Learn how to scan photos and documents with the PIXMA MP240 / MP250 / MP270 using MP Navigator EX on a Windows PC.

Solution

  1. On the Windows desktop, double-click on the MP Navigator EX 2.0 icon or select Start >(All) Programs >Canon Utilities > thenMP Navigator EX 2.0 from the Windows taskbar.

Text(OCR)

 When you select Color Photograph or Black and White Photo, the position or size of the image may not be scanned correctly if you practice not leave 3/8 inches (1 cm) or more space between the edges of the scanner glass and the document.

 When you lot select Magazine(Color), the Descreen function volition exist enabled and scanning takes longer than usual. To reset the Descreen part, disable Descreen in the Scan Settings dialog box. Select Text (OCR) to convert manus-written text or image data of printed text to text information with OCR software.

  1. Select Specify... and set up the preferences every bit required.

  2. The Scan Settings Dialog Box opens. Specify the document size and scan resolution.

  3. Select Browse.  The browse volition start.

  4. When the scan completes, the Scan Complete dialog box opens.  Select Scan to browse the adjacent certificate, orExit to end.

  5. When the scan completes, the scanned prototype appears in the thumbnail list surface area.

  6. Edit the scanned paradigm as required.

  • When there are multiple images, first select the images to edit.
    Selected images are outlined in orange.

  • Use edit tools to rotate images, select a part of an image, etc.

  • Drag the mouse or use Shift + pointer keys to select multiple images.
    An orange frame appears around the selected image.

  1. Select Save or Save as PDF file.

  2. Specify the following settings equally required:

  • When Save is selected, the Relieve dialog box opens. Specify the destination binder, file name and file type.

  • ​You cannot select JPEG/Exif when Document Type is Text (OCR).

  • The default folder is MP Navigator EX in the Pictures folder (Windows Vista / 7 / 8 / 8.1 / 10) or in the My Pictures folder (Windows XP and Windows 2000).

  1. When Save as PDF file is selected, the Save As PDF file dialog box opens. Specify the file type, file name and destination binder.

  2. Select from the post-obit PDF file types:

  •  PDF (Multiple Pages) - displays when you select multiple pages.

  •  The default binder is MP Navigator EX in the Pictures folder (Windows Vista / 7 / 8 / 8.i / 10) or in the My Pictures folder (Windows XP and Windows 2000).

PDF

When multiple images are selected, each image is saved as a split up PDF file.

PDF(Multiple Pages)

Multiple images are saved in one PDF file.

PDF(Add Folio)

Selected images are added to a specified PDF file. The images are added to the end of the PDF file. You cannot rearrange pages of the PDF file to which images are added.

 You can select but PDF files created with MP Navigator EX. You cannot specify PDF files created with other applications. PDF files edited in other applications cannot be specified likewise.

 If a countersign-protected PDF file is edited, the passwords volition be deleted. Reset the passwords.

  1. Select Save.
  • Scanned images are saved according to the settings.

  • To further employ/edit the scanned images on MP Navigator EX, select Open saved location in the Save Complete dialog box. The saved images appear in the View & Use screen.
